Tranny Faliure

soi have a 1982 pontiac bonneville, great car, its actually my mothers, but anyway the tranny up and decided to not shift into 2nd gear last night and now she cant get to work.  I was wondering if anyone has heard of the problem or could suggest a fix that doesn't imply a tranny swap.  Any posts will help. Thank you

first you should check the vacuum line to the tranny if there is no leak you should then change the modulator valve in the tranny if that does not work you will have to replace it for the only other thing that it could be is the bands inside the tranny are worn.
