We have had the forum closed due to the large amount of spam posts. I have added an admin to help with sorting through the new registrations and have reopened the forums. Registration will be manually approved or disapproved at this time.

Might want to have a look at the wiring coming from the ignition switch that goes to the coil. There is a wiring diagram on the site at http://firebird.gttransmissions.com/firebird%20wiring.htm If you need better copies, I'll be glad to scan them and send them via pdf.

I have a 1969 firebird.Just recently it would not start.found out there was no spark to the distributor. My son ran a wire from the battery to the distributor.I turned the key started right up .Had to remove the wire to turn it off. Then i removed some tape from the wire to the distributor and cleaned the connector up that was taped .Started it again and 5 seconds later it stalls.I replaced the connector.Same results. The only thing that i had done previously before this problem was changed the steering wheel.Anyone have any input on what can be wrong?By the way i also have the instument panel out as of now.I had alot of lhanging wires im fiixing.lighter, clock and small light bulbs.I had the car running lastweek.I changed the steering wheel this week then i had the problem. Thanks John

Hi Jim and welcome to the forums. Seems the forums have pretty much died over the last couple years. I am once again considering taking them down.

As for your paint question, I think it best to go to some local paint centers and have a look at what would be close. Either that or a proffesional auto paint center could give the best suggestion. If you find a suitable replacement, please post back for anyone else that wanders by with the same question Wink

I got absolutely no response to my under hood paint question, it seems silly to ask another question - but what the heck. Do any of you have an old NMW tow bar set-up for your '67 or '68 FB? I still have the tow bar, but have managed to lose the tabs that fasten to the bumper & was hoping for some photos so I can have another set made. Class.....class?HuhHuhHuh

I am the original owner of a '67 FB400 survivor w/ 10,000 miles. Even when the car was new, the filler panels for the radiator had a less than perfect paint job. Over the years I've thought about repainting them, but didn't know what to use that wouldn't be too flat or too shiney. Years ago a friend used a bbq grille paint that looked very similar to the original GM. What's out there now that doesn't look out of place?

The hoods are the same, but would reqire the nose and fenders to be swaped also. This would then of course not match the doors. If you really wanted to do this you would be best to try to custom fit the parts you want to use. Good Luck.
